Notice! The blog (but not the website as such) has moved slightly, and the new spot to point your feedreaders and blurry eyes to are http://shelter.nu/blog/, and I've chucked my RSS/Atom feed into FeedBurner for good measure as well.

This also means no more comments here, and especially not you spammers, you filthy floatsam of the internet!

Don't worry, as soon as I get some spare time I'll merge the two blogs together, just need to work out some Blog API with Blogger, or, worse, install WordPress and do it myself. We'll see what I come up with.

Web User Interface Developer - an overview

The purpose of this article is to a) give people - like project managers, sales, customers and other developers - an insight into what a web user interface developer does and doesn't, shoulds and shouldn'ts, and b) give web user interface developers insight into methods, best-practices and decisions me and my colleagues at bekk not found. do every day.

I stumbled across a job in Web User Interface Development 4 years ago and love it. I've always had trouble explaining to the 'back end' developers and managers in my group just how important the front end work my collegue and I do is. Your article will help to explain my point!
I do have a question though. I'm trying to build on my skills and knowledge concerning Web UI development and best practices. Any suggested books, courses or languages/applications that I should look in to? The information about HCI is great but there's so much that I don't know where to begin. Any pointers would be much appreciated!
Thanks,
Kate
